Huddersfield U15's in Cricket Festival Final Defeat

The Huddersfield U15 Team, after having played well to reach the final of the Yorkshire Junior Cricket Festival, were outmatched by Barnsley in a match held at Sowerby St. Peters CC.

Having been asked to bat first, Huddersfield carefully laid a platform to hopefully set up a competitive score. The early wicket of opener Josh Megson for 1 was shrugged off after a decent partnership with Thomas Addy and Musa Ahmed. But the loss of both these players put Huddersfield on the back foot and regular wickets then fell throughout the innings to leave Huddersfield defending a low total of 97ao from 38 overs.

In reply, Barnsley opener O. Blackburn led his side well but quick wickets gave Huddersfield hope as Barnsley struggled on 33-4. Musa Ahmed displaying his all-round capabilities taking three of the Barnsley wickets. When Blackburn finally fell for a superb 41, caught by Dan Parr it was left to middle-order Barnsley batsmen Ferne and Dyson to steer their side home which they duly did with Ferne finishing on 23no and Parr 21no. O. Blackburn with the highest Barnsley score and with 3 wickets was awarded Man Of The Match.

Well done to the Huddersfield U15 team who gave excellent representation throughout the whole festival.
