MCC Back To Face HCL Again

MCC Back To Face HCL Again

8 Aug 2022

The Marylebone Cricket Club return to Huddersfield this week to take on the cream of the Huddersfield Cricket League’s young players in the latest annual fixture.

The match is being held on Wednesday 10th August with the venue this time being Thongsbridge Cricket Club, who only recently made an exceptional effort in hosting the recent T20 Finals Days.

Two familiar faces return to the area for the MCC who are led this time by Toby Booth, currently at Cleckheaton Cricket Club and formerly of Kirkburton, Scholes and Lascelles Hall. He’s joined by his twin brother, Harvey, who last played for Broad Oak but has recently settled in the London area. Harvey Booth will be keeping wicket for the MCC.

The select HCL Under 21 team, put together by League Secretary Norman Clee is being led this time by impressive Thongsbridge batsman Kai Grieg, who has been enjoying his best season yet with the bat in his second season at the club. Honley’s Ben Harris will take the gloves and there will be representation from eight of our clubs in total.

Wickets are pitched at 11:30am and the match is set to be concluded by 6:30pm latest. Lunch is 1:15pm-1:55pm and tea will be taken 4:00pm-4:15pm. Entry is complete free and the match is sponsored by A.J. Harrison Accountants.
