It's here! The eagerly anticipated fixture schedule for the 2019 season.
A much-changed Hoylandswaine team will be looking to reassert their domination over the league having claimed the Byrom Shield for two seasons running and their fourth success in six short years. They start their defence with a tough assignment at home to Broad Oak who finished in a highly respectable fourth place last term but level on points with second and third. Hoylandswaine then face title challengers Shepley the following week who coincidentally is who they play in the reverse fixture on the final day.
Promoted Barkisland and Almondbury Wesleyans open up the season with home ties with Barkisland hosting Moorlands and Wesleyans entertaining Honley in a local derby with Honley looking for some quick revenge after being beating in the Sykes Cup against the then Championship side.
Aiming to bounce straight back following last season’s relegation are Mirfield Parish Cavaliers and they begin their campaign on their travels away at Lepton. Marsden, who won promotion in dramatic circumstances on the final ball of the season, invite Slaithwaite to make a short trip up the Colne valley and Conference champions Denby are away at Lascelles Hall who enjoyed an up-and-down campaign having topped the table for much of the early part of the 2018 season before fading away later on.
Cedar Court Conference
Hoylandswaine 2XI, who make their debut in 1XI cricket after a unique decision by the committee, begin their new challenge away at Upperthong. Meltham, whose struggles last term were made worse after suffering a severe points deduction, will hope to start the new season with renewed hope and will make a visit to Thurstonland on the opening day. Cumberworth United who have been denied promotion for the last two seasons hope to make it third time lucky with a home tie against Emley Clarence - a side who finished the season in strong form.
