At just 22 years old, Harry Finch of Barkisland CC has been recognised with the Reg Haigh Trophy for the most promising young cricketer for 2025— a well-deserved honour after an outstanding season playing at Premiership level.
During the 2025 season, Finch took 33 wickets at an average of 24, with best bowling figures of 5 for 27 in Barkisland’s victory over Scholes in June. Despite the team’s eventual relegation, his performances stood out throughout the season.
With the bat, Finch also impressed—scoring 632 runs at an average of over 33, including four half-centuries and one century. His hundred was a key contribution in Barkisland’s win against Ossett in the Heavy Woollen Cup.
His achievements were all the more notable given he performed consistently in a side facing challenges throughout the season—an effort that demonstrates both skill and resilience.
Finch also featured in the HPCL representative fixture against the MCC and has been part of Yorkshire’s Emerging Player Programme (EPP).
A proud member of the Finch cricketing dynasty at Barkisland, Harry continues to build on the family legacy with talent, hard work, and promise for the future.
Harry will receive his trophy at the Annual Awards Evening on 28th November
Congratulations to Harry on a fantastic season — we can’t wait to see what 2026 brings!
