Scorers News

For the latest YCF ACO Scoring Update newsletter  click here

The ECB ACO are encouraging all club scorers to join the ECB ACO free of charge – this will help build a community of scorers. They have also launched a new Scoring Pathway:

  • Every scoring member of the ECB ACO will receive a new level under this structure. Membership to join the ECB ACO is free and scorers will need to complete the ECB Scorer Course (60 mins online soon) to be allocated S5 Team Scorer. (signals, simple laws, book and app scoring)
  • From there, they can choose to become a full member for £20 a year giving them access to all CPD modules.
  • To progress up the pathway, scorers will need to demonstrate skills at each level and attend the CPD modules

Scorers Courses

  • 9.30am - 12pm Play Cricket Scorer app training (tablet/phone scoring)
  • 1pm - 4pm PCS Pro training (laptop scoring)

Please be aware that It is likely that soon in the future the ECB will require HPCL to arrange for our matches to be scored using the PCS Pro application on a laptop, rather than so called PCS-Score on a phone or tablet.
PCS- Scorer is linked to the Frogbox streaming technology and tends to be used by younger scorers and is probably the majority.
PCS-Pro must be scored on a laptop and, at the moment, is predominantly used by more serious and experienced scorers

If any Club is changing/updating their scoring technology, or thinking of introducing streaming for 2026, then you should take this info into account when making your decisions about the best way to go.
