Scorers News

The ECB ACO are encouraging all club scorers to join the ECB ACO free of charge – this will help build a community of scorers. They have also launched a new Scoring Pathway:

  • Every scoring member of the ECB ACO will receive a new level under this structure. Membership to join the ECB ACO is free and scorers will need to complete the ECB Scorer Course (60 mins online soon) to be allocated S5 Team Scorer. (signals, simple laws, book and app scoring)
  • From there, they can choose to become a full member for £20 a year giving them access to all CPD modules.
  • To progress up the pathway, scorers will need to demonstrate skills at each level and attend the CPD modules

Scorers Courses

In response to the above the ECB/ ACO will be holding two FREE Scorers Courses  held at Almondbury Wesleyans Cricket Club, HD5 8XT

It is strongly recommended that Scorers attend the PCS Pro training (laptop scoring) course as this is the most reliable way of scoring.

Although this poses issues for clubs who live stream on frogbox, if the away scorer can score on the laptop, this would cover any play cricket scorecard issues or reliability issues around the app.

Saturday 28th March 2026 - at Almondbury Wes

  • 9.30am - 12pm Play Cricket Scorer app training (tablet/phone scoring)
  • 1pm - 4pm       PCS Pro training (laptop scoring)

Suitable for all levels of scoring knowledge. You will need to bring a device with the app/software already installed. A login will be provided for the session. (Macbooks are not suitable)

Clubs are encouraged to send at least one person to this event and are welcome to send more than one.

Note:

Please be aware that it is expected that the ECB will soon require HPCL to score our matches using the PCS Pro application on a laptop, rather than the PCS-Score on a phone or tablet. This can cause issues with live streaming on Frogbox however if the away scorer can score on the laptop, this would cover any play cricket scorecard issues or reliability issues around the app

If any Club is changing/updating their scoring technology, or thinking of introducing streaming for 2026, then you should take this info into account when making your decisions about the best way to go.
