Howard Moxon, a man labelled ‘a Denby legend, who has dedicated his life to Denby Cricket Club has been honoured with the league’s most distinguished award; the F.R. Stallard Cup.
As the heartbeat of Denby Cricket Club for more than 50 years, Howard had only retired from cricketing duties at the end of the 2018 season before continuing his duties as club representative, a role he’d selflessly held for more than 25 years.
Howard has played and officiated in a total of 1,077 matches over his long career, which finished with him as club umpire for four seasons. However, his love of cricket extended far further by ensuring the important administerial duties were diligently looked after. He had held the role of club secretary for 38 years and he remains on the club’s committee to this day, taking an active role in all areas of the day-to-day running of the club.
The league would like to congratulate Howard on receiving our highest honour, presented to him at the recent Awards Dinner.
