The League is saddened to hear of the death of Mr Idris Jones of Quarry House, High Flatts, who passed away on 26 August 2026, aged 90.

Idris was well known throughout the cricket community especially with his connection and support of Holmfirth, Shelley, Shepley and Denby Cricket Clubs over the years. Idris was a great supporter of grassroots cricket especially of his sons Tim and David and his grandsons. Recently he was proud to witness Shelley make it to the Earnshaw Cup Fiinal and turned up at Shepley in support of the team.
His support, enthusiasm and love of the game will be fondly remembered by many across the cricketing community.
The League extends its sincere condolences to Idris’s family and friends, and to everyone at the clubs with whom he had such strong connections.
