The whites, the red ball, the pavilion, the pint after the game — and, of course, the cricket tea.
In an era when proper club teas have all but disappeared, Holmbridge CC stubbornly kept the tradition alive and for the past 16 years, three ladies have been at the heart of it.
Fran Hazelwood-Mosby, Sarah Gledhill and Emma are hanging up their aprons after 16 seasons of serving up something increasingly rare in club cricket — a proper knife-and-fork cricket tea.
Most clubs gave up on the traditional tea years ago. Sandwiches on a plate, job done.
Not at the Bridge.
Every Saturday, whatever the weather, whatever the scoreline Fran, Sarah and Emma made sure the players sat down to a proper tea. Their teas have been every bit as much a part of a Holmbridge Saturday as wickets, boundaries and the inevitable discussions with the umpire.
Everyone at Holmbridge CC and the Huddersfield Premier Cricket League would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Fran, Sarah and Emma for 16 years of dedication, hard work and, quite simply, amazing teas.
This Saturday is their last hurrah, so if you're around and especially if you've ever enjoyed one of their legendary teas get yourself down to the Bridge, say hello and give these three wonderful ladies the send-off they deserve.
And we're reliably informed there may well be a G&T or two on the go!!
