4th May 2017 - UPDATED: 20th May 2017
UPDATE
All Premiership and Premiership Two matches scheduled for Monday May 29th will now be played on Sunday May 28th. The Drakes League would like to wish Huddersfield Town FC luck in their play-off final vs Reading FC.
At the May League Executive meeting, the strong possibility of Huddersfield Town reaching the Championship play-off final was raised as an issue since the final's date of Monday May 29th also clashes with a full Premiership 1 & 2 programme. It was decided after discussion that providing Huddersfield Town reach the final, the full programme would be brought forward a day to Sunday May 28th. Should Huddersfield Town lose in the semi-final then the Premiership programme will be played on the original scheduled date of Monday May 29th.
It was agreed amongst the committee members that to be empathetic and supportive of the good feeling that Huddersfield Town's 2016/17 campaign has generated we felt that the only course of action would be to change the Premiership programme for that date so that the overwhelming amount of Huddersfield Town supporters playing for, involved with and supporting those clubs could enjoy the final with no conflict of interest.
The Executive also felt that a decision on moving the Premiership programme had to be made now since the next Executive meeting is be in June. It was also agreed that any change to the scheduled programme would need to have a minimum of disruption and with a fixture calendar already quite congested, Sunday May 28th seemed the logical choice.
We gather that by potentially moving the scheduled programme to another date creates alternative issues but we hope most will understand the reasoning behind this decision. The Drakes Huddersfield Cricket League also wish Huddersfield Town all the best of luck in their play-play-off campaign.
