In order to gauge opinion throughout the wider community about the format of future Awards presentations, the Huddersfield Cricket League have prepared a survey to be distributed to clubs.
The previous two evening events were scaled down due to the pandemic and knock-on effect due to restrictions affecting mass gatherings. From verbal communication with attendees at the events, plus people connected to the league, differing viewpoints about what was preferred in the modern era.
It is felt that a once off full traditional sporting dinner may be a suitable thing to do to acknowledge the achievement of ECB Premier League status but that will be in either 2024 or 2025. Whichever format is chosen to adopt, the event will take place on a Friday evening in November.
There are three suggested options:
Option 1
To continue with the smaller gathering format that was developed for 2021 in covid times, and replicated again last year. Hot food served, but no entertainment other than the presenter of the event. Free and invites to award winners plus a guest only.
Option 2
To make this format bigger, attracting 100 – 150 persons, still including hot food, but with the addition of entertainment in the form of a comedian. Free and invites to award winners plus a guest with extra tickets available for a modest cost.
Option 3
A return to the type and scale of event held at Cedar Court Hotel in years previously including a speaker and a comedian with clubs expected to commit to a minimum of four tickets each at a competitive price. A dinner will be provided.
An electronic voting survey has been sent to all club secretaries to be completed with their single preference to the above event. Please contact your club’s representative or secretary to feedback and discuss your preferences with them. The forms must be completed by Tuesday 28th February 2023.
