Mirfield edged a low scoring stunner at home to Cumberworth in the pick of the Conference action. George Parkes took 4-25 and George Smith 3-22 as Mirfield were dismissed for 95. The latter was the day's top scorer on 26,. but four apiece for Beau McGuinness and Naseer Saudagar saw Mirfield win by two runs.
Early Conference pace-setters Marsden enjoyed a trouble-free six wicket triumph at bottom side Upperthong. Former Broad Oak all-rounder Ben Lowden took 4-23 and then scored 35no in the reply. Umar Shehzad took 4-7 as Marsden replied with 85-4 to Upperthong’s 84ao..
Linthwaite went second with a win at Edgerton & Dalton. Former Skelmanthorpe and Lascelles Hall player Zahed Ahmed made a patient 100 from 148 balls opening the batting before Overseas Abdallah Manzoor led the charge with 4-20 as Linthwaite closed off a huge 181-run victory.
Hoylandswaine 2XI’s Jack Seddon (44) and Daniel Hoyle (41) were in the runs away at Kirkheaton, despite Priyank Koli’s excellent 6-46. Saif Ur-Rehman’s 4-11 secured their second triumph. Hall Bower bounced back with a win at home to struggling Thurstonland. Max Berry (55) and Ali Rafiq (67) escaped the attention of Jimmy Kain (4-45). Rafiq went on to take 3-27 with Tom Baxter also bagging three wickets.
Jacob Bonner accumulated a sublime 117 from 158 balls for mid-table Emley to see off Elland. Bonner hit 10 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. Elland’s Mo Bhoola took 4-34 but Oliver Brook compiled a half century with 52 as Emley racked up 230-8. Mirza Mobeen (4-44) and three wickets each for Hassnain Qureshi and Jamie Hopper completed Emley’s 40-run win.
In the Alliance, leaders Barkisland beat Scholes by six wickets at Chapelgate. Josh Finch built on the earlier good work of Darren Robinson by scoring 42no. Robinson claimed 5-24 to take his tally to 21 wickets in six matches as Scholes were bowled out for 100 batting first.
Skelmanthorpe were left stunned by Armitage Bridge after Irslan Saboor took 3-24 as Bridge knocked off the home side’s 66ao with minimum fuss. Golcar moved up to third by beating Kirkburton who slumped to the bottom after a family affair derailed them. Skipper Mark Turner hit an unbeaten 95 with son Max taking 5-42. Thongsbridge were dismissed for their second successive low score at Honley where Tommy Woodhead collected 5-13 and Denby Dale came out on top of the first teams at Almondbury. Mirza Tehseen taking 4-19 for the Dale.
In Alliance Two, Moorlands’ lead at the top extended to ten points after they defeated second placed Almondbury Wesleyans. Michael Rounding smashed 101no off 88 balls (10 fours, 8 sixes) after Alex Rowden took 3-36 in the first innings.
Harvey Swift took 5-18 as Hall Bower defended their 112ao total in a five run win away at Linthwaite. Naseeb Ullah also bagged five for Cartworth Moor but they were unable to chase down Mirfield Parish’s 209ao. Dan Carter’s best ever return of 7-30 for Parish put paid to that.
Edgerton & Dalton lead Alliance three. Navjot Bains scored 37 and took 2-14 to see off Shelley and elsewhere, Martin Clee hit 98no for Marsden as they won by 37 runs at home to Holmbridge.
In Alliance Four, never upset a Swann! Logan Swann claimed 3-36 and went on to score 60. Brother Max took four wickets as Rastrick topped the table with a win away at Thurstonland.
