The league has announced that the HPCL's flagship 2026 Sykes Cup Final between Rastrick CC and Hoylandswaine CC, originally scheduled for Sunday 9 August at Honley CC's Far End Lane ground, has been rescheduled to Sunday 16 August. The match will still commence at 12:00 noon.
This unprecedented decision to move the league's showpiece fixture has been made reluctantly after both finalists progressed to other prestigious competitions that are due to be played on 9 August. One of those fixtures takes precedence over HPCL competitions.
As winners of the 2026 HPCL T20 Trophy, Rastrick CC have qualified for the regional Finals Day of the ECB National Club Twenty20 competition in Nottingham. Meanwhile, Hoylandswaine CC will face Bradford League side New Farnley CC in the semi-final of the historic Heavy Woollen Cup.
Given the exceptional circumstances, with both Sykes Cup finalists facing unavoidable fixture clashes, the HPCL has agreed to rearrange the final as a one-off measure. This will allow both clubs to continue showcasing the high standard of cricket played across the Huddersfield area in two other prestigious competitions.
The league would also like to place on record its sincere thanks to Honley CC for accommodating this change at relatively short notice and for their continued support in hosting the 2026 Sykes Cup Final.
