Candid Kamran Books Denby Dale's SF Date - Oddfellows Cup QF Review

Atif Kamran and Liam Greig hit half-centuries as Denby Dale overcame higher division opposition in Thurstonland to progress into the Oddfellows Cup semi-finals. Wicket keeper Kamran scored 82 and Greig compiled 61 as Dale gave visiting Thurstonland problems by setting 266-9. Skipper Tom Broom made 73 but they were undone by the efforts of Jordan Geldart (4-27) as they crashed to 169ao.

Holmfirth remained the highest ranked team in the competition as they saw off Conference high-flyers Marsden. Andy Grey got Holmfirth back on track with 71 as they recovered from 88-6 to 217-9. Mohammed Nabeel claimed his eighth wicket of the weekend with 4-27 as Marsden melted under his barrage. Max Gummerson and Kye Zanardi both picked up two wickets as Marsden were dismissed for 111.

Cumberworth United flayed Almondbury with an overpowering batting display led by Asher Bagadam. The Auckland-based batsman made 69 and George Parkes hit 47. Simon Moorhouse added 36 in Cumberworth’s 266-7. Parkes then took 3-9 and Sam Crompton collected 4-29 as Almondbury were bowled out for 94.

Vinnie Jayasuira excelled with bat and ball as Emley Clarence were outclassed by the all-rounder in defeat at Upperthong. Jayasuira claimed 3-13 as Emley were skittled for 113 and then finished unbeaten on 73 as Upperthiong progressed into the last four with 119-3.
