The final Captain’s special preview comes from newly promoted Mirfield Parish Cavaliers’ skipper Tom Fretwell as he looks forward to Saturday’s opener and the season ahead.
Proud Parish lad Tom is Mirfield born and bred and has experiences all the highs, lows and everything in between at his club. Tom's a frontline bowler for Mirfield Parish and the experienced seamer claimed nearly 200 wickets since they joined the Huddersfield League - and plenty more from before then too.
Last season was one to remember for the men from their self-titled 'Pig Pen'. An unbeaten campaign in a fiercely competitive Championship where they were the only team promoted. However, can they take inspiration from Skelmanthorpe and Almondbury Wesleyans before them and solidify their Premiership place for the foreseeable future? Tom casts his eye on this critical campaign as well as talking about the players they hope can knock opening-day opponents Honley off their game.
