CCHC Pod #58 - Ritchie Howarth (Honley) Career Overview

CCHC Pod #58 - Ritchie Howarth (Honley) Career Overview

4 Aug 2023

Our official League Podcast, Castle Hill Cricket Chat, Has a special career overview episode. Ritchie Howarth, formerly of Holmfirth, Scholes, Holmbridge and Thongsbridge, but had his greatest successes at Honley, joined us on the podcast. Ritchie has not been shy with his long battle with mental illness where he felt as low as he could possibly be. Since recovery - which is still ongoing - he decided to start Holmfirth Mans Club, an opportunity to help other local men who have been taken over by depression.

From a modest and sometimes cameo-style cricket career, he transformed into one of the league’s deadliest assassins with the ball in hand and played throughout Honley’s most decorated period until his retirement in 2015. We got to hear what that was like as he battled with self-doubt during his early years to become one of the most lethal bowlers the league has ever seen.

Ritchie also took part in our “It Only Takes A Minute” career quiz, plus was joined by his Honley teammate (and former guest of the show) Simon Kelly. It was such a joy to do, and fantastic to see Ritchie back to healthy ways.
