“I was a really young captain. I listened to too many voices on the pitch. But I’ve found my own way of captaining.”
Despite having played first team cricket for seven years, Lepton Highlanders captain Jacob Mulhall is still, remarkably, only 21. We enjoyed the company of Jacob on episode 7 of Cricket Hill Cricket Chat podcast.
Jacob is part of a sprawling, extended cricketing family so he talked about being part of the fabric of a cricket club. He was the last winning skipper of a Huddersfield Joe Lumb side when they won it in 2017. He also made a move to play Premiership cricket the same season when he changed clubs for Golcar. In this wide-ranging conversation he shared his experiences during those formative years.
We also discussed junior cricket and summarised the exciting action in the first round of this season’s Sykes Cup as Jacob’s team Lepton came within a single run of toppling one of the leading Premiership sides.
