The league regret to announce that Nortonthorpe Cricket Club have tendered their resignation from the Huddersfield Cricket League.
This news follows a tumultuous period during which the club were under a temporary arrangement with the Huddersfield Cricket League to only field one side due to a sudden exit of players. They have also been unsuccessful so far in an ongoing dispute with Nortonthorpe Sports Club who own the ground and facilities in which they play which has rendered them homeless.
This brings to an end, a long history of the Clayton West-based club formed in 1877 and were founder members of the Huddersfield Central League in 1913. As recent as eight years ago the club had over 70 playing members but a series of unfortunate events hit the club hard including a flood in 2010.
