Ahead of the new season, the Castle Hill Cricket Chat podcast has interviewed a bunch of Premiership skippers with this episode centring on experienced Honley man Danny Howard.
Danny, who’s been at Honley for over twenty years since cutting his teeth at Thongsbridge, has enjoyed a stellar club career being part of a domineering Honley side in the 00’s. However, since taking the captaincy role, he’s been solely focused on ensuring the next generation can benefit from his wisdom and establishing Honley as genuine title contenders.
The Honley skipper talked about the challenges in keeping the pace at the top of the table with Hoylandswaine - a side they’ll face twice in the opening first few weeks. He also mused upon the happy problem he has blooding such a productive junior production line in the cut and thrust of first team cricket. And he casts an eye on his opening day opponents, newly promoted Mirfield Parish Cavaliers.
