In response to feedback regarding recent matches affected by bad light in the Alliance through to Alliance Four divisions, the Huddersfield Cricket League Executive is recommending earlier start times for 45-over games scheduled on the final two Saturdays of the 2024 season (7th and 14th September).
To ensure that all matches are completed without the disruption caused by fading light, it is suggested that start times be brought forward by either 30 or 60 minutes, with games commencing at either 12:30pm or 12:00 noon. The revised start time should be mutually agreed upon by both teams, with the home team responsible for contacting their opponents and informing all relevant parties, including the umpires. Matches must not start earlier than 12:00 noon.
All remaining 50-over matches in the Premiership to Conference divisions will continue to start at 12:00 noon, as stipulated by rule L7.3.
Looking ahead, the HCL Executive plans to propose a rule change to structurally address these issues for the 2025 season as part of the upcoming Rule Change process.
