RAIN INTERRUPTS – BUT NOTHING CAN STOP HOYLANDSWAINE’S CHARGE
HOYLANDSWAINE 75-1 beat NEW FARNLEY 115-8 by nine wickets (DLS)
HOYLANDSWAINE are heading to Headingley!
A nine-wicket victory over New Farnley in a rain-interrupted Yorkshire Champions’ White Rose Trophy semi-final last Sunday has earned Swaine a place in next Sunday’s showpiece final, where they will face reigning holders Richmondshire.
And while the weather tried its best to put a dampener on proceedings at The Barry Jackson Ground, it could do nothing to stop Hoylandswaine’s march towards Yorkshire glory.
Hoylandswaine won the toss and sent New Farnley in, the Bradford Premier League champions being restricted to 115-8 in their 25 overs, the match being reduced in length due to impending rain.
Adnan Ghani (4-31) and Adam Sylvester (2-23) reduced New Farnley to 72-6, Samit Patel (2-20) taking the last two wickets before Gurman Randhawa (10no) and Reuben Majithia (16no) added 25 unbroken.
Swaine set off like a train via Ben Kohler-Cadmore (20 off 10) and Furqan Shafiq (34no off 38, including two fours and two sixes), the dismissal of Kohler-Cadmore coming just before the first rain break.
Abid Ali then left the field retired not out 12 with a suspected broken thumb, rain ending the innings at 75-1 after 10.4 overs.
However, there was no doubt about the result.
The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern calculation left Hoylandswaine 33 runs ahead, confirming a nine-wicket victory and sending them through to the final.
Standing between Hoylandswaine and the White Rose Trophy will be Richmondshire, the reigning holders who booked their place in the final by defeating Castleford.
It means a huge day now awaits at Headingley next Sunday And Swaine are going there believing they can bring the White Rose Trophy home.!! We wish them Good Luck!!
