Despite the recent announcement by the Walker Timber Huddersfield Cricket League regarding a one-week delay to their season start, the Huddersfield Junior Cricket League is pleased to announce that the upcoming season will commence as originally scheduled.
This decision by the HJCL Executive Committee follows careful consideration of several factors:
Limited Flexibility: Due to the existing tight schedule, factoring in school holidays and representative matches, rescheduling fixtures for the league's 163 teams would pose significant logistical challenges.
Rule 5 Utilisation: The HJCL encourages member clubs to utilize Rule 5 (page 15) of the HJCL Handbook ("Fixtures and Points c and d") to facilitate matches. This rule allows teams to play their fixtures before the scheduled date or on the opponent's ground, subject to mutual agreement. A digital copy of the handbook can be accessed on the HJCL website.
Reporting Abandoned Games: In the event a match cannot be played due to unforeseen circumstances, clubs are instructed to report the game as "abandoned" within the Play-Cricket platform.
The HJCL Executive Committee remains committed to providing a smooth and enjoyable playing experience for all participating teams. We encourage member clubs to review the HJCL Handbook for further guidance and procedures.
