Incumbent Chairman Trevor Atkinson (above) has successfully retained his position as he held off challenger Chris Ridler by a large majority of 32 votes to 9. There were no abstinations.
The count was observed, on behalf of the Huddersfield Cricket League and the candidates, by Messrs Crompton, Tindall and Jakeman, who have also verified the result of this open, transparent and fair election process.
Mr. Atkinson, who has been in the post for over ten years, needed over half the votes to succeed in only the second leadership election in more than thirty years. Challenger Chris Ridler had been nominated by his club Holmfirth Cricket Club and had served on the Executive Committee in 2019.
The current chairman duly continues as Chairman for 2022 and prepares for the upcoming AGM set for Wednesday 1st December at Elland Cricket Club (7pm). The first one attended by clubs in person for two years.
