As we journey from Autumn into Winter we realise this is the time of year when clubs are making plans for the cricket season ahead.
Of course we are currently in the midst of a second national lockdown caused by Covid-19, and it is difficult to be certain that the virus will not impact on the 2021 season.
However, our plans for next season are to make a prompt start on April 17th with a full programme of league fixtures with promotion and relegation throughout all seven divisions.
At the November Executive meeting it was agreed that the original fixtures for 2020 would be re used in 2021, and in addition Sykes Cup and Paddock Shield competitions will all take place as normal with a possibility that ties may be re drawn dependent upon the outcome of voting on a cup rule proposal at the December AGM. The T20 competitions will also go ahead as per the 2020 fixtures.
At the present time it is our aim that both league and all cup competitions will be played in full and to existing handbook rules, although we must be mindful that Covid-19 could well impact upon the 2021 season, and that we may have to re structure our plans in accordance with any Government restrictions at the time. However, with news of the development of effective vaccines to combat Covid-19, let us look forward full of optimism to a return to our traditional game in 2021.
Also could we take this opportunity to thank everyone connected to the Huddersfield Cricket League for their support in this very unusual year, and hope that you all take some pleasure from the forthcoming festive season.
