Would you like to become an Umpire? The Umpires Association are once again looking for new members to Umpire in the Drakes Huddersfield Cricket League in the 2019 season.
The number of umpires nationally continues to fall & the Huddersfield Umpires Association is following the national trend. Currently the Drakes Huddersfield Cricket League have 37 clubs with 2 senior teams in each club. 38 members of the Umpires Association are required to cover all 1st XI cricket.
It is not necessary for you to have played cricket in the past because Umpiring Courses will be available during the winter months & on-field training will be provided during the season.
Two upcoming courses early in 2019 are ready to be filled. You do need to sign up for both courses to become a member of the Umpires Association. The details of the Courses are as follows:
Stage One
Stage One will be held at Broad Oak Cricket Club, Broad Oak, Linthwaite HD7 5TE. The course will run from 09.30am to 4.00pm on Saturday 2nd March 2019. The cost is £30.
Stage Two
Stage Two will be held at the same venue with the same start & finish time on Saturday 16th March 2019. Once again, the cost is £30, however if you sign up for both courses you will get a discount code reducing Stage Two to £10 when you sign up for Stage One. On completion of the courses & one season umpiring, if you have stood in more than half of the fixtures the Drakes Huddersfield League will also reimburse half of your course’s fees on application.
