Parth For The Course As Marsden Topple Elland - Lower League Matchday #2 Report

Marsden’s Parth Naik put the skids on Elland by taking 4-23 to register their first win of 2023 in a low scorer at Hemplow. Marsden’s modest 135ao score was more than plenty as Elland succumbed to defeat on 79ao. 

Linthwaite’s Abdallah Manzoor’s 4-28 was the difference as his side saw off Emley who were dismissed for 71 chasing the host’s 111. Hoylandswaine twos were dismantled by Edgerton & Dalton’s Muhammad Toseef who claimed 4-34 as Swaine finished all out for 119 in reply to 131.

George Smith helped himself to 7-19 as Thurstonland self-destructed for 100ao away at Cumberworth chasing 137ao.Kirkheaton’s Haydn Charlton and Shoaib Rehman both picked up three wickets each as they ground out victory at Mirfield with the home side finishing 19 runs short of their 122-9 target in an attritional match.

In the Alliance, 17 year old George Partington rescued Delph & Dobcross 2XI from a compromising position at home to Honley twos. The youngster hammered the day's biggest score of 115 which was supported by Isaac Davis (69) who shared a partnership of 166.Honley made 165ao in reply to Delph’s 265-9 reply. 

Scholes' second team clipped Almondbury 1XI’s wings with an impressive win. Bernard Snyman (74) hit another big score for the home side’s 164-7 but Scholes openers Nathan Shaw (60) and Jordan Spencer (50) both homed in on half-centuries as the visitors cruised home on 168-5. 

Ben Earnshaw took 4-28 in Thongsbridge’s easy win away at Golcar. Barkisland eased home against visiting Armitage Bridge by overhauling their 162-9 for the loss of six wickets.No play was possible at Denby Dale firsts at home to Kirkburton 2XI.
