We are proud to launch a comprehensive resource of archive material related to the Huddersfield Cricket League which is now available to view online.
Over the years, many statistics, league tables, trophy winners and awards were normally only available via handbooks, and these were always limited. However thanks to modern resources such as Google Data Studio (along with downtime attributed to the lockdown!), we have been able to produce comparative reports based on handbook data, combined with the current Match Secretary’s end of season statistics.
Following the recent passing of Peter Dibb; a well-known and much admired and respected member of our cricketing community, we have taken the step to name the archive in his memory. When Peter retired from playing, he continued to collect and update his own personal archive which was handed to him by former Huddersfield League match secretary Hedley Collins in 2000. We hope that naming the archive after him keeps his legacy alive for many years to come.
You can view the whole Archive using the menu structure at the top of the website.
There is a large amount of batting, bowling and wicket keeping statistics available to view. You can use filters and the search field to bring up any prolific players. These are not definitive statistics, they are only a starting point and some players’ figures for a season may be missing. From 1993 to 2012 the stats are based on the ones published in the league handbook of the time and were subject to selective criteria. (e.g. >300 runs / 30 wickets).
League Tables & Roll of Honour
Every league table from 1993 to the present day is included in the Peter Dibb Archive. We have extended on this to include a tracker for each club along with the total W L A records in this period. The roll of honour has been completed and includes the winners of every team trophy competed for since the start of the Huddersfield Cricket League in 1892.
In addition to the standard statistical data, we have also added some interesting reading material. The 135-page Centenary Brochure, produced in 1993 has been scanned, cleaned and uploaded along with Sykes Cup Final reports from 1999 to 2010. We will continue to update this area as and when material becomes available. If you have any interesting historical documents or publications which you feel we could add, please feel free to get in touch. Any material borrowed will be processed with the utmost of care and safely returned as soon as possible.
