Scholes Win Most Improved Ground Trophy

Scholes Win Most Improved Ground Trophy

20 Oct 2024

Scholes Cricket Club has been awarded the prestigious FE Greenwood Trophy for 2024, in recognition of their high-standard playing area and significant improvements to their ground and amenities. The club’s £70,000 refurbishment of their Chapelgate changing room facilities was a standout feature of their remarkable upgrades over the past year.

The major renovations began in mid-September 2023, immediately after the conclusion of the cricket season, with the project completed over the winter. The existing changing rooms were extended to incorporate the balcony areas, featuring sliding glass doors and balustrades, adding a modern and polished look to the facility.

Inside, the changing rooms underwent a complete overhaul, with brand-new shower and wet room areas installed, along with vastly improved spaces for umpires and designated female changing rooms. These enhancements have elevated Scholes CC’s facilities to a state-of-the-art standard, creating a welcoming and professional environment for all.

In addition to the changing room upgrades, Scholes CC also installed a new scorebox and electric scoreboard that prioritises energy efficiency and eco-friendliness. These efforts reflect the club’s commitment to both providing top-quality amenities and adopting environmentally conscious practices.

Scholes CC’s hard work and investment have clearly paid off, and the FE Greenwood Trophy is a fitting recognition of their dedication to creating a top-class cricketing venue.
