We have released a statement which we hope will help clarify the position with regard to the position of recreational cricket in the DHCL and the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the Covid-19 crisis we have kept clubs updated with all relevant statements issued by the cricketing authorities.
Recently ECB ruled that no domestic cricket would be possible until 1st August at the earliest, with recreational cricket being suspended until further notice. Given this situation it is difficult at this stage to see how any of our normal competitions could be completed this season. However, we have delayed a formal announcement in case there is any change of government advice in the near future.
If the go ahead is given for recreational cricket to commence during the coming months then we will look to an appropriate way forward in order to offer the possibility of some cricket in 2020.
Necessary planning would be based on any available time scale, and would obviously be totally dependent upon the safety guidelines which we would have to satisfy.
We completely understand the frustrations experienced by many individuals involved within our member clubs, but should we receive further news from ECB on the possible resumption of recreational cricket, we will endeavour to move quickly, and will look to involve appropriate stakeholders in any decision making process.
