Statement: Rastrick Cricket Club / T20 Finals Day

Statement: Rastrick Cricket Club / T20 Finals Day

17 Jul 2018

It has come to the league’s attention that during the T20 Shield Semi-Final between Elland and Rastrick a rule infringement took place by Rastrick Cricket Club.

After further and thorough investigation by our Match & Registrations Secretary, Rastrick had indeed breached rule TS3; a player registered after the start of the season is required  to play 3 qualifying games before he would be eligible to play in the T20 Shield competition.

As a repercussion, the match result; a Rastrick victory, has now been overturned and Elland will now progress to the final playing Slaithwaite. Additionally, due to Rastrick also being drawn as the hosts of the Finals Day, and with Elland being unable to host Finals Day, the venue has now been redrawn between the remaining three clubs with Slaithwaite Cricket Club being successful, and they will now host T20 Finals Day on Sun 5 August.

We would like to place on record our gratitude to Rastrick Cricket Club for graciously accepting the punishment of what was an unfortunate administrative oversight and also to Slaithwaite Cricket Club who have accepted the venue draw result at short notice. We are confident T20 Finals Day at its new venue will be keenly attended, and will be a success just like all previous ones have been.
