Sugden Announced As President

6 Jan 2022

The league have nominated Andrew Sugden to be the next President, a position vacated following the passing of Roger France in June 2021. Andrew accepted the role after the nomination was ratified at the January Executive Meeting.
Andrew’s relationship with the league stretches back well over twenty years where he has acted as the league’s official solicitor and advisor in legal matters. Mr Sugden is a senior partner at Huddersfield Law firm Eaton Smith having joined them in 2000.
He was a keen and enthusiastic sportsman during his playing days which was mainly at Armitage Bridge. He later served as President of the club in the 2000’s. Besides being the consultant for our league’s legal queries he also served in the same capacity for the Huddersfield Central League. Andrew has devoted much of his time in the past to sporting circles in our local community.
Aside from cricket he was membership secretary of Huddersfield Lawn Tennis and Squash Club and a keen golfer who plays at Fixby Golf Club. Rugby Union has also featured in his life and is a member of Huddersfield RUFC.
The Executive would like to congratulate Andrew on his appointment to the Huddersfield Cricket League and we are proud and honoured that he has decided to accept the offer.
