Umpire Recruitment Drive

Umpire Recruitment Drive

5 Jan 2020

Two umpires training courses are in the pipeline for budding and enthusiastic future umpires. These courses have been arranged by the Umpires Association in conjunction with the ECB with a stage one course planned for mid-February and a stage two course to follow on the consecutive Saturday.

The courses are scheduled to take place at Broad Oak Cricket Club with the first course designed for those looking to make their first step into cricket umpiring at league level. The Umpires Association are particularly keen for players who are coming towards the end of their playing career to get involved due to their experience in the game. However anyone with a keen passion and interest in cricket will be welcomed.

The cost for the courses are £30 each but the stage two course is reduced to just £10 with a voucher code issued for those that have applied for stage one. As a further incentive, the Huddersfield Cricket League will also reimburse half of the course fees for those that go on to become a member of the Umpires Association and stand in half the coming season’s fixtures.

The stage one course takes place on Saturday 15 February with stage two being held on Saturday 22 February. Both run from 9:30am until 4:30am with a break for lunch.

If you would prefer not to commit to the courses but would like to be involved in officiating at a more relaxed, occasional level then the Umpire Association are welcoming those to send their details to compile an Umpiring Pool. For full details or registering your interest along with links to apply to the courses, head to the Umpire recruitment page via the banner below.
