Barkisland’s exceptional young opener, Matty Weston, has been named the winner of the Reg Haigh Trophy for the second consecutive season. The young Yorkshire prospect enjoyed another impeccable season, amassing 1,016 runs at a brilliant average of 59.76. His consistent performances helped Barkisland secure a 6th place finish in the Premiership growing his reputation as a key performer for the team.
Weston’s remarkable achievement solidifies his position as one of the brightest young talents in the league and he becomes the xx player to win the award two times following Lee Baxter (1993, 1995), Tom Craddock (2009, 2010) and Arron Lilley (2011,2012).
His trophy will be presented at the Annual Awards Evening on 29th November at Baines Hall, Elland. Congratulations to Matty Weston on another fantastic season!
