One of the league’s oldest clubs has been celebrating their 150 year anniversary this year. Golcar Cricket Club is passing this remarkable landmark in tremendously good shape with its first team occupying the upper reaches of the Premiership.
This coming Sunday, September 12th the club are having a day of celebration around their 3XI fixture against Sowerby St. Peters in the Halifax Sunday League. With the match as the backdrop, Golcar have thrown an open invite to mark the occasion with a reunion of former and current players, supporters and officials. On display at the club will be a large selection of old photographs, scorebooks and historical curiosities with the stalwarts at the club welcoming visitors old and new where they can nostalgically reflect on some of the club's finest moments.
There is entertainment for the kids with a bouncy castle and the barbeque will be fired up for light bites. It’s free entry from 2pm until 5pm so if you’re at a loose end this weekend then you’d be welcomed at Swallow Lane.
