The upcoming August Bank Holiday sees some alternate cricketing events taking place around our local clubs. Here’s a preview of some of the action.
The Big Bridge Bash
A regular cricketing event has been hosted at Thongsbridge for the past five years so it’s fair to say Thongsbridge have fine tuned their Big Bridge Bash which now takes on The Hundred format. On Sunday 27th August, four teams represent the cream of the talent from overseas and our home shores. South Africa will take on Australia with two teams crammed with players currently featuring in our local teams. The Rest of the World will take on England with the winners of both ties facing off in a main event final.
Live music and entertainment is also put on and other fun competitions such as a duck race and a long arm competition fills out proceedings. Plus Thongsbridge’s burgeoning reputation for outstanding food at their outdoor grill will keep punters well fed.
Keep tabs on Thongsbridge’s Facebook page this week for announcements on teams.
Delph & Dobcross’s 150th year Celebrations
The 2016 treble winning side is forming a reunion for the main event of Delph’s 150th year anniversary in a fun day at Huddersfield Road on Sunday 27th August. They’re taking on a side filled with former players and local professionals in a T20 match. A curtain-raiser sees retired players taking on a Delph junior team in a ten over pairs match to start off the day and a BBQ, kids entertainment and live music rounds things off. Entry is £4 on the day and advance tickets for £2 can be bought from the club’s bar this week.
