The draw for the semi-final of the Sykes Cup threw out some mouth-watering fixtures with current 1st vs 2nd facing off in Delph & Dobcross and Hoylandswaine. Delph & Dobcross who this season are captained by Andrew Gleave have enjoyed a powerful start to the season and are unbeaten in all competitions so far. Hoylandswaine; winners in 2014 and 2013 take the long journey across the Pennines in what promises to be an explosive tie. The David of the last four is Meltham from the Jedi Championship who have proven their giant killing calibre by defeating top-flight teams Elland and Broad Oak. They have a tough away trip to Danny Glover's Shepley, with Marsh Lane often a fortress to visit, the winner will book passage to a place at the showpiece final at Honley in August.
In the Paddock Shield two strong teams in Barkisland and Kirkburton were thrown together. Last season's Shield winners Barkisland will enjoy the benefit of being at home where much-fancied Hoylandswaine came unstuck in the quarter final. The other fixture sees another lower league team in Clayton West look to try and cause an upset. They entertain top flight Scholes and Matthew Boorman's men may find life difficult travelling to a team who knocked out a strong Broad Oak 2nd XI in the previous round. The Paddock Shield final venue will be drawn between the two qualified finalists.
