With the new season fast approaching, the Castle Hill Cricket Chat podcast took a Premiership captain aside each day. This episode it was Jake Finch from Barkisland who gave us his observations for the new campaign.
One of several brothers who are involved at Barkisland, it's Jake’s first season as captain after performing as vice captain for some time. He’s learnt his trade from two influential figures at the club; Ben Heritage who was captain since 2020 and Darren Robinson before that.
Jake gave us an insight into their new overseas signing and explained how their team is shaping up with key men Cameron Van Rensburg, Luke Bridges and Matty Weston at his disposal. We also talked about Barkisland’s opening day opponents Broad Oak and reflected on what was an encouraging season last year around the village.
